No one was hurt in the blaze, reported Dr. Terry Dickinson, VDA executive director, but the association lost most of its dental supplies, including those used for its Missions of Mercy projects.

"It's a mess," he said, "but people have been terrific and wanting to help. It's an opportunity for everyone to draw together and focus on getting better. We're the VDA."

On the VDA website, President Alonzo Bell reassured members that all of their personal information is safe. "I am writing this message to reassure you that we will recover from this event; and, that we can come back stronger and better than we were before," Dr. Bell said.

Until its offices can be rebuilt at a location yet-to-be-determined, the VDA has temporarily relocated at the Medical Society of Virginia.

Dr. Dickinson said he hopes to have new computers set up sometime this week so that the office will be fully functional. He said that those people interested in contacting the VDA may do so by e-mailing info@vadental.org.
